English Abstract

Studies on asphalt modification have been conducted to solve problems related to asphalt pavement. One way to do asphalt modification is by incorporating additives into asphalt mixtures. Cement, lime, silica fume, fly ash, and cement dust will be utilized in this study in two ways: as binder modifiers/additives or filler replacement. The effect of those additives on the asphalt mixtures performance was investigated, along with analyses of which of these two plays more significant roles in mixture performance. An investigation was carried out through stages of binder and mixtures testing. Statistical analysis was carried out to assess the significance of different variables to mixture performance. The results show that all dosages of selected additive materials gave higher results in the Marshall stability value. Simultaneously, for ITS and MR tests, the cement dust tends to give lower values compared to the control mixes. A comprehensive study that combines more than one additive is recommended to conduct for the future to know the interaction between additives.
