English Abstract

Sour gas streams with high CO2/H2S ratio, more than 2:1, are treated to produce three on spec products which are sweet gas, acid gas and waste gas. These products shall have/not exceed certain amount of acid components, hydrogen sulfide and/or carbon dioxide. Also for amine units, the flashed gas considered as the fourth product of acid gas removal system. There are several technics for acid gas removal processes such as chemical solvents and membrane systems. Nowadays, amine systems are the most utilized method to treat natural gas containing acid components. For high CO2/H2S ratio sour gas stream, the treatment take place throughout two amine treatment stages in series using a selective amine type .The first stage is to remove the acid content to meet the sweet gas spec, which occur at a unit called acid gas removal unit. The other stage is to treat the acid gas from the previous unit to achieve the targeted specifications for both acid gas and waste gas using also selective amine type, which take place at the acid enrichment unit. This study evaluated altering that design with other amine systems designs considering different configurations and different amine types. Moreover, the usage of hybrid acid gas removal systems (amine and membrane) evaluated by proposing three alternative designs .Then, a detailed economical evaluation studies were conducted for the base case design along with other alternative designs to benchmark them and then to figure out the best design for this process.
