Abstract

This presentation focuses on the methods which are used for assessment of in-service failures at component and system level in order to determine the inspection or replacement intervals and customize aircraft maintenance programs. For the assessment of component and system failures, field data is highly desirable for aircraft operators because it accounts for all local usage and environmental stresses which may differ from one operator to another. Thus, although maintenance and inspection policies are initially dictated by manufacturers, maintenance intervals are needed to be adjusted based upon airline's own operating and environmental conditions, maintenance capabilities and experience gained.
