English Abstract

This thesis discusses the theory and the design of a novel, multiplier-free unit that computes sqrt(A × B). The fused operation is achieved through a single digit-recurrence relation, using an initial-delay-like parameter that is xed at design time. The thesis also elaborates on the theory of a fused unit that computes A×B/D , which is already proposed in the literature, while addressing the desire to share the SRT table between the two units.
