English Abstract

This research develops self-sensing 3DPC mixtures by incorporating graphene nanoplatelets (GNP), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) at 0.3%, 1%, and 2% by weight of cement into mortar mixtures. The study investigated the rheological characteristics, fresh and hardened electrical and mechanical performance, and microstructural analysis of the 3DPC mixtures. The rheological performance indicated values suitable for extrusion-based 3DPC. The 3DPC mechanical strengths, investigated using layered mortar (LM) specimens, showed weak compressive strength but superior flexural strength compared to their mold-cast counterparts. The piezoresistive performance confirms that the developed 3DPC mixtures can respond to deformation under load through fractional change in resistivity (FCR), which showed stability and high sensitivity, with a gauge factor (GF) between 80 and 500 in most cases. Microstructural analysis confirms that the graphene derivatives refined the mortar microstructure without altering the mortar matrix structure. Overall, the outcome shows the feasibility of producing graphene-derivative-based self-sensing 3DPC for smart infrastructure
