Arabic Abstract

تُمثّل الهوية المعمارية في المملكة العربية السعودية المعاصرة بناءً متعدد الأبعاد يتشكّل من خلال الذكاء المناخي، والتعبير الشكلي، والهوية المادية، والمعنى الرمزي، والتنظيم المكاني. ولا تزال مناهج التقييم القائمة مجزأة بين التقاليد النظرية والإدراكية والشكلية والتراثية، ونادراً ما تضع المعماريين الممارسين في مركز المستجيبين الأساسيين. تطوّر هذه الدراسة إطاراً مفاهيمياً وقياسياً منظماً يتمحور حول المعماري، من خلال تصميم تسلسلي رباعي المراحل: استخراج المؤشرات من سبع عشرة أداة تقييم قائمة، وتحليل التغطية والتحليل السيميائي، وبناء الإطار الشامل للهوية المعمارية (CAIF) المكوّن من خمس فئات وثماني وعشرين فئة فرعية، وتطوير أداة استبيان مكوّنة من ثلاثة وثلاثين عنصراً صُقلت باستخدام عينة متنوّعة من 179 معمارياً ممارساً في المملكة العربية السعودية. أظهرت الأداة اتساقاً داخلياً قوياً (ألفا كرونباخ = 0.88). وأشار التحليل العاملي الاستكشافي إلى وجود عامل عام مهيمن وبنية ثلاثية العوامل، بينما اختار التحليل العاملي التوكيدي نموذجاً هرمياً من الرتبة الثانية مفضّلاً إياه على بديلين من الرتبة الأولى، أحدهما بخمسة عوامل والآخر بثلاثة عوامل، بمطابقة مقبولة (CFI = 0.89، وRMSEA = 0.055، وSRMR = 0.073). وأنتج الصقل إطاراً مُتحقَّقاً منه مكوّناً من سبعة وعشرين عنصراً (CAIF-27). تُسهم الأطروحة في تقديم إطار حسّاس للسياق يتمحور حول المعماري، لتقييم كيفية تأويل المعماريين للسمات المرتبطة بالهوية وترتيب أولوياتها ضمن الممارسة المعمارية السعودية المعاصرة. وهو مدعوم تجريبياً ضمن هذا الصقل المحدود النطاق وليس مُتحقَّقاً منه على نحو شامل

English Abstract

Architectural Identity in contemporary Saudi Arabia operates as a multidimensional construct shaped by climatic intelligence, formal expression, material identity, symbolic meaning, and spatial organization. Existing assessment approaches remain fragmented across theoretical, perceptual, morphological, and heritage traditions, and they rarely center practicing architects as the primary respondents. This study develops a structured, architect-centered conceptual and measurement framework through a sequential four-phase design: indicator extraction from seventeen existing assessment tools, coverage and semiotic analysis, construction of the Comprehensive Architectural Identity Framework (CAIF) of five categories and twenty-eight subcategories, and development of a thirty-three-item survey instrument refined with a diverse sample of 179 practicing architects in Saudi Arabia. The instrument showed strong internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = .88). Exploratory factor analysis indicated a dominant general factor and a three-factor structure, and confirmatory factor analysis selected a second-order hierarchical model over first-order five-factor and three-factor alternatives, with acceptable fit (CFI = .89, RMSEA = .055, SRMR = .073). Refinement produced a validated twenty-seven-item framework (CAIF-27). The dissertation contributes a context-sensitive, architect-centered framework for assessing how architects interpret and prioritize identity-related attributes within contemporary Saudi practice. It is empirically supported within this scoped refinement rather than universally validated.
