Full Name : [Faisal Nedal Al-Ratrout] Thesis Title : [LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES AND THEIR EFFECT ON PROJECT PERFORMANCE IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN KSA] Major Field : [Construction Engineering and Management] Date of Degree : [May 2023] The goal of every business is to increase the success rate of projects. Therefore, to evaluate the success of a project, it must be examined in-depth from every angle. In recent years, the range of leadership competencies recognized in the field of project management has grown substantially. However, there is still room for exploration into what skills are necessary for project managers to effectively lead their teams and complete their assignments. Lacking leadership competencies has been cited as the cause of many failed projects. The construction industry is one of the industries that require leadership competencies models to deal with and boost project results. The purpose of this study is to construct and validate a leadership competency framework for project managers and to identify the connection between leadership competencies and project performance. The study investigated the relationship between the leadership competencies of project managers and project performance in the construction industry in Saudi Arabia. The data were gathered through a questionnaire targeting grade 1 and grade 2 contractors in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. The results of this study provided insights into the essential leadership competencies that project managers should possess to enhance project performance. The study's major findings reveal that various leadership competency dimensions significantly impact project manager performance. Managing Self QuotientXIV (MSQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) demonstrate the highest effect sizes, indicating a strong positive influence. Managerial Quotient (MQ), Managing Programs (MP2Q), and Managing People (MP1Q) also exhibit a notable positive impact. Moderate effects on project manager performance are observed for Managing Projects Quotient (MPQ), Leading Organizations (LQ), Interpersonal Quotient (IPQ), Administrative Quotient (AQ), and Intelligence Quotient (IQ). All predictor variables show a statistically significant positive effect on project performance. Managing People Quotient (MP1Q), Managing Projects Quotient (MPQ), and Managing Self Quotient (MSQ) display the strongest effects, while Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Managing Programs Quotient (MP2Q) exhibit weaker effects.
