English Abstract

Null Steering in planar antenna arrays is investigated in this thesis. Genetic algorithms were employed to solve the problem of null steering in planar arrays. Mathematical expressions for the planar array factor were derived from the linear array factor expression. Null steering can be achieved by amplitude only, phase only, and complex weight control. Patterns were observed before and after steering nulls. Results of the simulation show that single and multiple nulls can be steered in any real space directions of planar arrays using genetic algorithms.
